Amethyst is a purple variation of Quartz, and is found all over the world. It is a 7 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. With that rating it is a medium to hard stone. One of the more common forms of Amethyst is the Chevron Amethyst, which has bands of white that look like Chevrons on a US military uniform denoting ones rank.
Amethyst is best believed to be a healer of all. Also known for stimulating creativity, battling addiction, and enhancing psychic abilities. It's quite often sought after to aid in meditation and spirituality.
