Fluorite forms in various hues, typically purple, green, yellow, blue, and in pure form – colorless. It is composed of calcium fluoride and is a member of the Halide family. It is a 4-4.5 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. With that rating it is a fairly soft stone and should not be placed in direct sunlight.
